In a landmark moment for Guyana’s East Coast corridor, the ANSA McAL Group of Companies today hosted an event to mark the ceremonial start of the Chateau Margot Mall – a transformative mixed-use development poised to redefine Guyana’s retail experience and celebrate its cultural heritage.
With a legacy spanning over three decades in Guyana, ANSA McAL has been integral player in the nation’s development, investing in the distribution, media, automotive and the construction sectors. 
The Chateau Margot Mall, represents the Group’s next bold investment in Guyana’s future, drawing on its full-service real estate expertise across feasibility, design, financing, construction, marketing and sales.

Strategically located along the East Coast corridor, the 110,000 sq. ft. mall will offer a dynamic mix of retail, dining, and entertainment options, masterfully designed by internationally acclaimed architect Varchi. 
Anchored by a flagship supermarket and featuring more than 60 retail outlets, food courts, and office spaces, the development reflects ANSA McAL’s continued confidence in Guyana’s economic trajectory and its commitment to long-term national growth.
The sod turning ceremony was attended by His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, President of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana; Mr. A. Norman Sabga, Group Chairman of the ANSA McAL Group of Companies; Mr. Troy Cadogan, Head of External Affairs and Managing Director of ANSA McAL Distribution Inc., Guyana; and Mr. Joseph Rahael, Sector Head – Real Estate, ANSA McAL Limited. 
They were joined by senior government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and leaders from the private sector.

Mr. Sabga’s visit to Guyana underscored ANSA McAL’s deep expertise in real estate development and its strategic role in shaping vibrant community-driven projects across the Caribbean. His remarks at the ceremony highlighted the Group’s commitment to delivering high-impact developments that blend commercial vitality with community enrichment.

A signature feature of the development is its proximity to the historic Chateau Margot Chimney – an enduring emblem of Guyana’s industrial past. The chimney and the land on which it stands remain state-owned, and ANSA McAL is working in close collaboration with the National Trust of Guyana to ensure its integrity and heritage value are preserved throughout the project and beyond.
The surrounding public space will be thoughtfully enhanced to promote public access and appreciation, creating a meaningful space where history and modern progress stand proudly side by side.
