“Parkside has done amazing, winning tournaments continuously. It is not only about winning, but Parkside has also been building into generations, into communities, forming the next generation of pannists,” Yusuf-Abel said.

AMDI’s support, according to Ms. Yusuf-Abel, extends beyond a “one off” sponsorship, as the company promises to assist Parkside outside of the Panorama competition.

Since its establishment in 1998, the now ANSA McAL Parkside Steel Orchestra has been performing exceptionally well, winning over ten Mashramani panorama competitions. There is also a junior aspect of the band titled, ‘The Pan Wave Academy’, which provides young children with an opportunity to learn the steel-pan.

Signing of Agreement

The Chairman of the band, Reon Miller, expressed gratitude to AMDI for their support and especially for this year’s competition, where the band will perform Passion by Militant.

This year, Hennessy has joined to support the ANSA McAL Parkside Steel Orchestra. Akeem Prowell, Senior Brand Manager – Hennessy, mentioned that the brand is happy to partner with Parkside, since it has always been connected to music and the Caribbean culture.

In addition to the sponsorship of the ANSA McAL Parkside Steel Orchestra, AMDI has launched Pan on the Wall, a weekly cultural steel pan showcase as part of the Mashramani celebrations, running every Friday until February 21, 2025. The ANSA McAL Parkside Steel Orchestra will take the stage tomorrow and later compete against three other bands for the inaugural Pan on the Wall 2025 title.
