ANSA McAL Foundation Opens Call for Social Investment Proposals in Guyana

GYD $10 million available per category for registered civil society organisations working in Education and Community-based Youth Development

The ANSA McAL Foundation has launched a national Call for Social Investment Proposals in Guyana, inviting registered civil society organisations to apply for structured partnership investment under the Social Investment Programme (Guyana). The call was announced on Friday, 16 May 2026 by Melanie Richards, Head of Sustainability and Social Investment at ANSA McAL, at the Growing With Guyana Networking Cocktail and Business Showcase at the Guyana Marriott Hotel in Georgetown.

Two flagship programmes will be selected for 2026/2027, each receiving a grant of GYD $10 million (approximately US$50,000), with a renewal option based on performance. Funding is available in two categories:

  1. Education – STEM, TVET and entrepreneurship programmes, aligned with
Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education).
  2. Community-based Youth Development in low-income communities, aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities).

This is a structured, partnership-based commitment tied to measurable development outcomes. Shortlisted organisations will be invited to attend a one-day online NGO Capacity Building Workshop on programme framework and implementation planning, helping organisations transform strong ideas into fundable programmes.

The call reflects ANSA McAL’s long-standing investment in Guyanese people and communities. Through the Anthony N. Sabga Awards, Caribbean Excellence, the Foundation’s flagship recognition programme , 16 locals have been honoured among its 71 laureates across the fields of science, technology, the arts and public and civic contributions. This call for proposals extends that commitment from recognition to direct community partnership.

“Guyana has always been central to how we think about social investment in the Caribbean. Through the Anthony N. Sabga Awards, Caribbean Excellence, we have seen what Guyanese people are capable of when they are given the resources and recognition to go further. This call for proposals is about extending that belief into communities – partnering with organisations that are already doing the work, and investing in their ability to deliver lasting, measurable change.

Every stride begins with belief in what is possible. We are here to help make it real.” – Melanie Richards, Head of Sustainability and Social Investment, ANSA McAL “ANSA McAL has been part of Guyana’s story for over thirty years, and as a Guyanese, that means a great deal to me.

The Foundation’s Social Investment Programme is a genuine commitment to the organisations building communities across this country from the ground up. We have seen Guyanese excellence recognised through the Anthony N. Sabga Awards, Caribbean Excellence, and now we want to invest directly in the programmes making a difference in our communities.

I encourage every eligible organisation working in education or community-based youth development to apply. This is a real partnership opportunity and we are ready to grow with you.” – Troy Cadogan, Managing Director, ANSA McAL Distribution Inc. and Head of External Affairs, ANSA McAL Guyana Registered civil society organisations wishing to apply are invited complete the application form online at www.ansamcalfoundation.org. The deadline for submissions is 15 June 2026 at 11:59pm.
