Credit Control Clerk

Job Overview:

The Credit Control Clerk is responsible for managing and monitoring customer accounts to ensure timely payments and minimize credit risks. This role involves maintaining accurate financial records, processing payments, and liaising with customers and internal teams to resolve payment-related issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Account Management: Maintain accurate customer account records, ensuring all transactions are properly documented.
  • Payment Monitoring: Track customer payment schedules and ensure timely collection of outstanding balances.
  • Debt Recovery: Contact customers to follow up on overdue payments, resolving any disputes or queries promptly.
  • Reconciliation: Perform account reconciliations, ensuring all discrepancies are addressed and resolved.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit regular reports on outstanding accounts, payment trends, and credit risks to the Credit Control Supervisor.
  • Customer Liaison: Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, addressing payment-related inquiries professionally.
  • Policy Adherence: Ensure all credit control activities align with company policies and procedures.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the sales, finance, and customer service teams to resolve account-related issues and ensure seamless operations.

Requirements:
  • Minimum of a high school diploma; a diploma or certification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is an asset.
  • Previous experience in credit control, accounts receivable, or a similar role is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of accounting software and systems is an asset.
